High-pressure area; low flying 85t filter press
Busy times in the most modern recycling centre in eastern Switzerland on a Saturday morning in summer 2022. Due to a delivery delay, the 85t heavy and over 15m long filter press had to be brought into the side of the new building at a height of 6.5m when the construction work was already completed.
Hanging on two mobile cranes, the filter press was rotated by 90° in the air before one side was handed over from the crane to the first hydraulic lifting unit. After moving it into the building, also the other side could be transferred from the crane to the second hydraulic lifting unit and moved to its final position inside the building. The filter press was then be placed with millimetre precision on the foundations.
The RCO was founded in 2018 by the two companies "Holcim Kies und Beton AG" and "Zürcher Kies und Transport AG". With their joint know-how, Holcim and Zürcher want to drive innovation in building materials recycling, close further material cycles even more consistently and serve the eastern Swiss market with high-quality construction materials. The RCO Recyling Center Ostschweiz is currently the most modern recycling centre in eastern Switzerland.
